The aim of the Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) program is to provide financial support in the form of cash refunds to Canadian businesses that conduct SR&ED in Canada. This financial support is intended to encourage businesses to develop new or improved technology and advanced products or processes. In British Columbia and Alberta, the SR&ED refund can be as much as 64 cents back on every incremental R&D dollar spent!
This federal program provides over 1.8 billion dollars in funding every year to over 11,000 small and large companies across Canada. Here is how the program works:
If you have undertaken any projects to develop new or advanced products, devices or processes which involved overcoming technological uncertainties or challenges then it is possible you are eligible. Indications of eligible experimental development could include encountering unexpected issues, or taking longer than expected because of problems encountered, and trying to overcome these challenges through a systematic approach whereby you experimented with project variables or alternative solutions.
We can determine your eligibility for SR&ED refunds by sitting down with you in a brief meeting and simply reviewing the work you performed.
